Our Services

Our garden and landscape design process begins with a call then a consultation with Carla onsite to discuss your desired outcomes and challenges. Site specifics such as microclimates, drainage and soil profiles are considered, as well as your desired look for the space – the hard / fixed features as well as the plants. We share ideas about how your garden could be enhanced so that your landscape will bloom!

After the consultation, Carla refines your design brief and moves into sketching mode, creating your baseplan to scale and developing ideas. These hand drawn sketches are presented to you for feedback, ahead of creating your master plan and planting design in computer software so these can be shared with landscape construction teams or for you to DIY your garden to scale.

Not sure which option is best for you? Read below or contact Carla for more information.

Garden Design Consultation

The first step in the design process - Carla meets with you onsite for approximately an hour to discuss what your goals, ideas and style preferences are, as well as the budget you have for your project. While onsite, Carla will note the orientation, water, drainage and soil considerations, light levels and microclimates - as this will inform the design and plant palette for your project.

Not sure if you need a garden design? Consultations are a great way of starting the design process if you’d like to share ideas regarding design and plant options for your location. It’s also a great way of meeting Carla as the client/designer relationship is so important.

Consultations are $395 plus travel fee (outside 30 minutes of Benalla, priced on location).

Master Design  Process

Concept

After the initial consultation, a concept brief, mood board and sketches are developed, addressing what you are looking for in your beautiful space.

Master Plan

Carla builds on the sketches to create a detailed, master plan to scale including indicative plants and finishings (fences, paths, decking, pavers, garden bed materials). Irrigation, site levels, site access, drainage, microclimates and lighting are considered. We develop a narrative and present the design of your beautiful space (in person or virtually).

Note – the master plan is the document needed for landscape contractors to install and build your garden, or for you to implement the design as a DIYer.

Planting, Lighting and Irrigation Design

We develop the planting plan suitable to the site orientation and climatic requirements to make your landscape come to life. This includes the exact location of each plant alongside proposed lighting and irrigation. This is a standalone option if you’re already happy with your ‘hardscaping’ and the flow of your garden.

Plant Schedule: We put together the planting schedule so plants (including maturity of plant, size) can be ordered and planted. Plant sourcing can be provided on request.

Plant Layout: We come onsite on planting day and ensure plants are installed to specifications and location.

Project Coordination:  Don’t have time to source trades or manage the implementation of your project? Carla has over twenty years in successful project delivery and is able to coordinate your project. Investment / $$: Quoted on request.
