Creating beautiful garden spaces

Gardens provide us with time in the outdoors and a sanctuary tailored to us and our loved ones, bringing joy to those who experience them (even over the fence during a pandemic), along with the healing powers of sensory calm. No two gardens are ever the same.

I started Design.Style.Life in 2018 as a way of sharing how being in gardens and nature has made a difference in my life. After twenty years working in corporate environments, along came the pandemic in 2019. This saw me convert our front garden into a productive food garden - for our family and for others. The conversations this started in our street with all generations were amazing - children stopped with their parents to admire the sunflowers on their way to school, our 84 year-old neighbour loved kohlrabi so I planted some and gifted her most of it (it’s excellent cooked in butter with salt and pepper by the way) and the garden was rambling, ordered, beauty that greeted you on your return home.

The sense of community and connectedness our garden created with locals on their walk past was quite profound with conversations filling their cup and mine. Strangers became new friends, with them often leaving with something from my garden that I had nurtured and raised.

I love helping others create their beautiful space, after decades creating beautiful spaces for the ones I love. In 2021, I qualified with first class honours as a Garden Designer with Burnley Horticultural College. To align with being a qualified landscape and garden designer, we rebranded to Blossom & Pollen - Landscapes that Bloom in 2022. Since qualifying I have been engaged by families, couples, retirees and schools to design beautiful and functional outdoor spaces.
